Minimalist Modern

With a 1960s home that was no longer meeting their needs, our client wanted to build a new home driven by mid-century modern design. We partnered with Dovetail Design Studio and Integrity Architecture to create a functional, modern home built for their lifestyle.

The exterior makes an impression with black Hardie lap siding, nichiha Empire block panels, and a tight reveal cedar lap siding accent — a modern, eye-catching combination of materials and colors.

Inside, the mid-century design flow continues with clerestory windows that fill the two-story living room with natural light. Steel tension cables with turnbuckles provide the living area with architectural integrity and an aesthetic highlight. The kitchen is open and bright, with clean lines and bold colors designed around Henrybuilt cabinetry. Unique tile and minimalist design provide style and utility in the master bath. The mid-century modern inspiration continues throughout the home, with a floating linear fireplace on a pure white chimney that climbs to the ceiling. A floating staircase and cable railing features a natural white oak, bringing warmth to the main area of the home.

LIVING SPACE WORKS PERFECTLY FOR OUR FAMILY

Our home remodel ended up being more of a perfect fit for our family than we realized while doing the project. We still get compliments on the transformation of the exterior from people we run into around town.

Our favorite part of the remodel is how the living space works for our family. The children are upstairs and the master bedroom is on the first floor. Our family room, mudroom and covered patio are the most utilized areas of the house. The Heller family was easy to work with. They allowed me to be involved in every decision which was essential for the end result to be exactly what we wanted.

The speed at which the project was completed was amazing, without compromising the quality of the work done. When small issues arise after the completion of the job, they still show up to help or make recommendations on how to make repairs/adjustments. I would rate our experience a 5 out of 5.
